As pet owners ourselves, we understand the importance of safety and health when it comes to our furry friends. We are proud of the transparency we’ve created when it comes to our process.
We started making raw pet food for our kennel, Big Country Kennels, with the desire to feed our dogs and growing puppies a nutritious raw diet. We opened our store in 2012 with a commitment to produce a high quality, affordable and safe raw pet food. We are thankful for the many loyal customers that have chosen to support us and our brand.
We are proud to call Ontario home and contribute to the Canadian pet food industry. Our family, faith, and hardworking team is what makes us proud owners of Big Country Raw.

Our mission is to get raw food to our customers with as few steps as possible, to ensure the freshest and healthiest food available. We don’t have anything to hide, and we’re proud to say everything is made right here in Ontario with Canadian products.
We believe that raw, natural foods are the key to optimal health for your dog or cat, and it’s never too early or too late to make the switch!

Step 1:
The Beginning of Something Great
We source all of our ingredients from local farms to ensure Big Country Raw products use only the highest quality meats, fruits and vegetables. Our ingredients are delivered straight from the farm for optimal freshness.

Step 2:
Packaged with Care
We follow Good Manufacturing Principles and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) processes from the first step of production through to finished goods. You can be confident that the meat in your pet’s raw meal was subject to the same strict inspection criteria as meat intended for human consumption. This inspection process includes checks for the presence of disease, parasites, e.coli, salmonella, listeria, as well as hormones and antibiotics.

Food You Can Feel Good About
Our products are flash frozen at temperatures below –20 degrees to maximize the nutrients in our fresh prepared raw meals. Our products remain at a constant frozen state from the date of production to the day they arrive at your doorstep.

Our Facility
We produce all of our raw pet food right here in Smithville, Ontario. All raw products are transported from the processing plant to Big Country Raw on temperature controlled trucks.
Our products are flash frozen at temperatures below –20 degrees to maximize the nutrients in our fresh prepared raw meals. Our facility is equipped with a Temperature Monitoring System to ensure all products remain at a constant frozen state.
